There is a subdued classiness to their decorations, but no matter where you go in the city, it is just brimming with festivities. 2014-12-02 Over 35 streets, squares and bridges in downtown Stockholm are lit up using hundreds of thousands of LED lights (one of the biggest lighting projects in Europe). The official lightning ceremony takes place in Kungsträdgården at 3pm. The main Christmas market in Gamla Stan opens one week later on the 23rd (open daily until Dec 23rd). Nu har man tagit fram ett program under namnet ”Stockholm Christmas Village”.
Every year Stockholm lits up for Christmas and thousands of people go out for a walk in its snowy streets, if weather so decides, to visit the most famous Christmas markets, buy gifts or to have a fika in any of the hundreds of cozy cafes available.
